ABOUT THE ATLAS ORTHOGONAL PROCEDURE

THE STATE OF THE ART IN HEADACHE TREATMENT EXPLAINED

The Atlas Orthogonal Procedure utilizes scientific and exacting methodology to effectively remove the underlying cause of many types of chronic migraine, cluster, tension and injury related headaches.

The Atlas Orthogonal Doctor (Atlas Orthogonist) will firstly perform a complete and thorough examination of the patient to ascertain whether the patient is a candidate for care.

Once admitted under care, the doctor will take a series of three dimensional radiographs to exactly locate the area of neurovascular compromise which is causing the patient's headaches. These radiographs will be computer analyzed and a vector will be generated to be used in conjunction with the Atlas Orthogonal Percussion Instrument.

The instrument uses a percussive force to remove the atlas neurovascular impingement which was found on the radiographs. The correction is completely non-invasive and most often than not patients say, "That's It?" after their correction has been accomplished because the force used is so light. A post-radiograph will then be taken to confirm that the atlas neurovascular impingement has been removed.

Patients are then given instructions on how to protect their correction and a treatment plan is devised to make sure the condition does not reappear. Follow up visits may include trigger point therapy, mechanical massage, heat or cold packs, and exercise, as needed. Detoxification protocols will also be offered to those patients wishing to cleanse their bodies of the long term residual effects of drug therapy and faulty diets.

Patients can expect a 50-100% improvement in their symptoms within one month of initial treatment.

IT IS NOT ALL IN YOUR HEAD

The Atlas Neurovascular Syndrome is a condition found at the base of the skull. In this area the first cervical vertebra or "Atlas", a 2 ounce bone, holds the weight of your head, 10-15 pounds. This area is highly susceptible to injury through trauma such as falls, whiplash, or even BIRTH TRAUMA. Even if you do not remember a huge accident, it is highly likely that this area has been affected somehow if you are a headache sufferer.

In this delicate area, two very important structures are found:

Firstly, the vertebral arteries which come up the neck through small holes in the vertebra on their way from the heart, take four right hand turns as they string through the Atlas. They then go on to supply the brain with over 2/3rds of it's blood! A misalignment of the Atlas can thereby cause interference to the proper blood flow to the brain. A common complaint of migraine and headache sufferers is pressure or throbbing in the head or behind an eye. It can easily be seen how one might feel this if the major blood supply to the brain is being impinged upon at the base of the skull.

Secondly, the brain stem, your central nervous systems connection between brain and spinal cord, sits at the level of the Atlas. Many headache and migraine patients suffer with nausea and dizziness which can both be attributed to interference at the brain stem level along with a multitude of other symptoms since the brain stem is virtually your bodies nervous system control center. Removing the impingement found at the level of the base of the skull/atlas is the key to correcting the cause of most headaches. The Atlas Orthogonal Instrument does this effectively, precisely and non-invasively thereby allowing the blood flow and nervous system to regain it's proper uninterrupted state. This procedure is completely different then "traditional" chiropractic methodologies which attempt to free the area through more forceful means with some limited success in our experience. An added benefit to Atlas Orthogonal Treatment is the fact that with the correction of the atlas/skull misalignment comes straightening of the entire spine beneath it. Because of this, many other symptoms can be relieved by the Atlas Orthogonal Treatment. Things such as neck pain, arm pain or numbness, shoulder pain, mid back pain, low back pain, sciatica, TMJ and face pain have all been successfully treated with the Atlas Orthogonal Instrument.

You may ask, "Why is it that my medical doctor or neurologist doesn't know about this?" We often ask the same question, as the effectiveness of the procedure is truly remarkable. More often than not patients come to the office with a stack of previous x-rays, CAT scans, and MRI's plus a list of doctors they have seen and drugs they have tried with no success.

My Background

Dr. Marla Blauschild came to understand the wonders of the Atlas Orthogonal Procedure through her own personal experience. While in traditional chiropractic school, she began experiencing intense neck pain which steadily increased into headaches, arm pain and numbness. Obviously at the time Dr. Blauschild had free access to regular chiropractic care but found little to no relief from her sometimes 3 time a week visits to the school clinic. At this point, Dr. Blauschild began researching alternatives for her own care and was blessed enough to stumble across the Atlas Orthogonal Program. The Atlas Orthogonal Treatment provided her with the much needed relief from her own worsening condition and thusly, Dr. Blauschild began taking steps to study the procedure herself and become Atlas Orthogonal Board Certified. Dr. Blauschild went on to establish her first clinic in 1995 in Bergen County, New Jersey where one of her first patients was her own mother, Cynthia. Cynthia had suffered with migraine headaches for over 30 YEARS! She was told by doctors that the migraines were both hormonal and genetic and given little hope for their relief. The migraines she experienced lasted 3 days or more for which time she would take a sedative prescription medication, shut herself in a dark room and wait until they passed. After one correction with the Atlas Orthogonal Percussion Instrument, Cynthia's migraines were eliminated. It was at this time, Dr. Marla Blauschild decided to make the study of headaches of all types her special focus. She went on to practice for many years in that same location where she treated numerous professional athletes, such as Michael Strahan of the New York Giants. Dr. Blauschild opened her second office in Warwick, New York in 2005 and was proud to be the only Board Certified Atlas Orthogonist serving Orange County NY for 17 years. With the opening of her newest practice in Umatilla, FL, Dr. Blauschild is excited to be the first Atlas Orthogonist in Lake County. There are only roughly 150 Board Certified Atlas Orthogonists in the nation.
